SBIR/STTR provides route to new tech intros

Are your products on the leading edge for your industry? Are you looking for federal support to commercialize them? The Federal Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program is worth checking out.

SBIR and STTR opportunities are published in SAM and appear on your Federal dashboard. The requirements documents are open for an extended period, so remember to check back from time to time – they will remain on your dashboard until expiration. Add “SBIR” and “STTR” to your Profile Keywords and “Small Business” to your Profile Certifications to raise the priority of these announcements.

The SBIR and STTR (Small Business Technology Transfer) programs recently were extended until the end of FY2031. They provide contract funding in three stages, under competitive merit-based proposal processes. Agencies publicize the innovation topics of interest to the agency, and small businesses can offer conceptual solution ideas.  Phase I is limited to seed funds generally up to $150,000. If the result of Phase I is promising, the agency can then offer Phase II funding on the order of $1-$1.5 million to produce a prototype or proof model of the technology. Phase III contracts are then limited only as to what is required to satisfy the agency’s requirements.

BC2Match includes contract RFP and IFB notices from all federal agencies from across the country. We solve the fire-hose problem by selecting and prioritizing opportunities according to your specific profile. Your keywords. Your industry codes. Your geographic reach. Your small business status.
